Bactroban Gel is used to treat certain skin infections (e.g. acne, rosacea, pimpes). Bactroban Gel is an antibacterial medicine that is used topically on the skin. It interferes with a bacterial enzyme and this prevents the production of proteins and genetic material that bacteria need to multiply. This inhibits the ability of the bacteria to grow.
How to use Bactroban Gel:
Use Bactroban Gel as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Aððló a small amount of Bactroban Cream 3 times a day.
- Wash and completely dry the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed.
- The affected area may be covered with gauze or a bandage.
- To clear up your infection completely, use Bactroban Gel for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days.
- Wash your hands immediately after using Bactroban Cream.
- If you miss a dose of Bactroban Gel, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
Avoid using this medication around your eyes, nose, mouth, or on large areas of damaged or broken skin unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
What are the possible side effects of Bactroban Gel?
Serious side effects are not expected to occur with mupirocin topical therapy. Stop using mupirocin topical and see your doctor if you experience unusual blistering, itching, redness, peeling, dryness, or irritation of the skin.
